Number of terminals: 1. There is a huge airport expansion taking place at present and the airport will double in size.

It's already a huge airport but getting bigger daily so it's best to leave a fair bit of time to get to your departure gate as the walk can be quite long.

Driving directions: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol lies on the E19, 15km (9 miles) from Amsterdam. The airport is close to the A4 motorway, which links Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam.

Car parking: There are two short-term car parks, both connected to the terminal and Schiphol Plaza by covered walkways. Long-term parking is available in an open-air car park 4km (2.5 miles) from the terminal. A free 24-hour shuttle bus leaves for the terminal every ten minutes.

Public Transport: Rail: Train: There is a railway station in the terminal’s central plaza; direct trains run to Amsterdam Central Station every 15 minutes 0600-2400 and every hour through the night (journey time: 20 minutes). There is also a direct link between Schiphol and Amsterdam’s RAI Congress Centre, with trains running every 15 minutes 0525-0010. The reservation-only, high-speed Thalys train serves Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels and Paris, and has facilities for disabled travelers. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available from outside the Arrivals hall (journey time into Amsterdam: approximately 15 minutes). Taxis can be booked in advance on the airport’s website (website: www.schiphol.nl). Bus: Public buses run regularly to Amsterdam and other cities. Connexion Airport Hotel operates a shuttle service to the city centre 0600-2300 departing every 20 minutes and only stopping at hotels required by on-board travelers; scheduled return times for these shuttle bus are published at participating hotels. Information and help desks: There are several information desks around the airport One is located before passport control in the main Plaza and behind passport control in Lounges 2 and 3.

Airport facilities: Schipol has every facility you can imagine from money changing/ exchange to shoe shine boys as well as communication centre's, free Internet hotspots, numerous banks as well as many ATM's offering cash 24 hours a day. There is a post office in Lounge 2, postboxes dotted around the main terminal, fax machines on various piers and mobile telephone rental at the Arrivals 1information desk.

Eating and drinking: Besides the usual Burger King and McDonalds there are numerous other snack bars as well as restaurants, bars and small café's offering all sorts of food and drinks from Wok to walk Chinese food, fried noodle bars, sandwiches as well as numerous shops selling designer clothes.

After you pass through airport control you have a further selection of shops and more bars as well as a huge duty-free section for non European passengers.

Other facilities: The airport has a 24-hour medical centre and a pharmacy.

Shower facilities and saunas can be found at the terminal hotel. Holland Casino operates a smaller version here but you can still win, win, win,.Located in the shopping plaza after immigration.

Conference and business facilities: Amsterdam being a major player in the business world it's no wonder Schipol airport is well up there will all the latest facilities for the business traveler.

The Business Centre at Schipol has everything a business man could require from an rented office with personal computer and telephone facilities as well as a secretarial service if needed as well as

conference rooms. telecommunications equipment, Computers, printers and mobile telephones can be rented from KPN Telecom rent central open 0830-1730 Monday to Friday. (tel: (0)20 653 0999; fax: (0)20 653 0998), located in the publicly-accessible Schiphol Plaza.

The Communications Centre in Lounge 2 provides passengers with Internet facilities, mini-offices, a post office and a telephone centre. A large number of the major airlines have executive lounges, which offer some business facilities.

Disabled Facilities: There is a lift between the airport and train platforms, and disabled parking is available in P1, P2 and P3 car parks. A bus is available on request by phoning 020 316 1417 from

SCHIPOL AIRPORT MEETING POINT.

If you have booked a taxi / driver to collect you at Schipol airport for when you arrive, the meeting point for all collections / pick ups is NOT as with other airports just outside the arrivals gate. At Schipol airport the meeting point is in the main airport hall just opposite when you purchase train tickets.
