.Chinese New Year 2008 - Amsterdam style
Every year in Amsterdam on the 22nd of the year all the Chinese businesses in Amsterdam are visited by the dragon and blessed to ward away bad spirits .
A huge Chinese fire cracker is used outside each premises.
This takes many hours from early in the morning to late in the evening.
The noise in the area is like being in a war zone.
In 2009 they decided to have two dragons as there are now so many Chinese businesses that one little dragon cannot do the job on his own and has requested reinforcements to cope.
So now two dragons = twice as much noise and fun depending on what what you look at it.
It is becoming quite a tourist attraction.
More of the Dragons on Geldersekade in China town.
This was taken just as the Chinese fire cracker is lit.
Noisy little things.
Dragon number two joins in the fun.
After Chinese fire cracker had gone off. Notice all the red stuff on the ground
One of our guests send us this SAND STORM from Iraq.
Well worth a look.

The latest in Bus shelters.
Fitness first has an advertisement campaign going on bus shelters trying to get new members.
When you sit down on the seat to wait for the bus to arrive. It weights you and your weight appears in the blue panel.
The women pictured is 69 kilos.
The floating bed made of 2 giant magnets designed by a Dutch man who spent six years working on the development of this giant magnetic floating bed.
A scale model of it was on show at the Millionaire Fair in Amsterdam for only Euro 145.000 while the real thing costs Euro 1 million. ($1.5 million)
The bed just floats in the air above giant magnets and can hold even the fattest person or couple up to 900 kilos. It's held in place with four very thin cables.
You have to remember never go near it with any mobile phones and credit cards etc.
A new way of keeping your boat weighted down -- use 8 x two litre bottles of orange juice .
When we asked why the 2 litre bottles. Owner replied " Could not get five litre bottles"
Only in Amsterdam!
This juice has now survived the winter , was frozen solid last time I saw it but now is just slightly chilled and ready to serve.
